The best moisturizers for every skin type

What’s the best facial moisturizer for aging skin? What’s the best face cream for wrinkles? How do you treat extremely dry skin? What’s the best moisturizer for sensitive skin?

Yep, Expaters, I hear you.

I’m no skincare expert, I just have rubbish skin. My skin type is dehydrated, sensitive, combination… a.k.a. bad. And since moving to the polluted metropolis of Santiago de Chile with it’s really hard water, it’s gone from bad to worse.

Here’s a round up of my favourite moisturisers in 2019:

Best moisturiser for sensitive skin

SIBU Nourishing Face Cream for Problematic Skin, $24.95 USD for 30ml.

With its iconic sea buckthorn berry super ingredient, this is a lovely, light vitamin boost for even the most sensitive skin types. I rely on this soothing lotion when my skin feels irritated and sore. It’s gentle, non oily and soaks in really fast without leaving any residue.

SIBU face cream

Best moisturiser for dehydrated skin

Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream, £37.00 GBP for 50ml.

This is a great, medium weight cream and works wonders when my skin is dehydrated. It feels rich and creamy, but doesn’t clog and seems to keep my skin hydrated longer than many other products on the market. Great for thirsty skin in need of a little TLC!

Best moisturiser for oily / combination skin

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser, $21.50 USD for 75ml.

My skin type is dehydrated, yet often I get oily patches. Formulated with squalane, this moisturiser feels super lightweight and isn’t at all greasy. A fantastic product if you’re after something a little more lightweight in texture.

Best moisturiser for sunburn and stressed skin

QMS hydro foam mask, £52 GBP for 150ml

This is a really handy boost for dry, irritated, tired or stressed skin. I’ve taken this foam on my travels as it hardly weighs a thing, and it’s darn useful if you’ve overdosed on the sunshine. OK, it tickles like crazy while it does its magic, but it’s worth it.

Best cheap moisturizer

Beauty Pie Super Healthy Skin Daily Moisture Lotion , £6.34 GBP for 50ml (£35 GBP for non members)

As you’ve probably noticed from my beauty section, I tend to splurge on skincare. However, this beauty favorite costs under a tenner. I love this lightweight daily cream whenever my skin is a bit all over the place and I’m not sure what to apply. OK, there is one teeny catch – you have to be a member of Beauty Pie, and that will set you back £99 per year, otherwise this cream costs £35. But as I underline to my cost saving husband, it’s not how much I’m spending, it’s how much I’m saving, darling!

Best luxury moisturizer

JK7 Golden Face Oil, $680 USD for 15ml

Yes, you read right. That’s a pair of Jimmy Choos on a facial product. But ladies, ladies… if you can afford this iconic facial oil, you won’t regret it. This is hands down one of the most luxurious moisturisers I’ve ever tested. It’s a super concentrated dose of ultra natural oils which really hydrates deep down. One small drop of this wonder oil every day for a couple of weeks and your skin will feel plumper, smoother and softer than ever.
