Last week on a stroll through Vitacura I stumbled on a wonderful grocery store. Perhaps grocery store isn’t the right word. More like paradise for lazy, but fussy gluttons like me.
‘Fork‘ has three branches across the city (Lo Barnechea, Providencia and since April 2018 Vitacura) with a mission to provide the best local, natural produce.

Really, really good aji (pepper salsa)…
Excellent olive oils, including Las Piedras which we use in our household….
and the best yoghurt this side of Greece.
They also stock some really good local Chilean fuet, sausages and cured hams (which passed the Spanish husband test), as well as local cheeses which I hear bear the French Expater seal of approval…
And fresh cakes and bread which smelled as good as they looked.
But their main USP and the reason Fork is now saved among my internet bookmarks is their range of ready meals, also available for delivery.
Local specialties such as pastel de choclo sit alongside comfort food faves like lasagna and curries. All dishes are clearly labelled with allergens highlighted. Alas most are not suitable for home freezing however.
In any case, when I give birth in two months time, the guys at Fork are going to be hearing a lot more from me.
If you’re in the store and just can’t wait until you get home, there are a couple of seating areas for enjoying a coffee with cake, or an empanada or two.
I’ll be back for sure when my British family come to visit for the fresh milk alone. Or no doubt I’ll be back earlier – I’ve got my eye on this oh so cute picnic blanket.
TV dinners, picnics and take away just got a whole lot more fun. Bon appetit Expaters!
